It's almost a third of the way through February and I feel like I've been neglecting this site. How many peaces have posted this year? One? Two? I've decided to make Wednesday "post day", so I will be posting something every Wednesday, starting tomorrow.
April 2023: A wild Transphobe appeared
Before you say anything, remember that I made this and this and now that we're clear: I came across a transphobe in the wild, a person who I already knew and - until this point - liked. Honestly this had come up before but I gave them benefit of the doubt, which was a mistake. This person (they seem to be a man but I'll take the level ground here and not assume, even if they probably wouldn't afford me the same) offered the information that their "draughter" "wanted" to be a dude, and then went on to say that they didn't accept the "misnomer" - as they called it - that they were mis-gendering "her" and to say that they know their "daughter" inside and out. Bullsh**. They also couldn't seem to decide if age was factor in any of this or not: saying that they wouldn't be dictated to by the younger generation (I hate generation wars) and then dismissing the living proof standing right in front of them that age did not determine views of queerness. Feb 2023: The Don'ts of Feedback
Don't shout. Don't swear at people Don't be sexist, racist, homophonic or any of that other sh##. Don't demand something is changed*. Don't push your standards of realism onto the art/artist*. Don't demand anyone agree with you. Don't give feedback about things the artist has said they don't want feedback about*. Don't assume things about the character of the artist or other fans. Don't disregard the artists time, effort or skill level. Don't just point out problems and ignore the good stuff. Don't disregard the point of the art. Dec 2022: Normal Type X Run
They are like 9 normal type lines before the first gym in X and Y. Then you get Snorlax. And by the third gym they 5 part flying types (technical 6 but why bother with the unevolvable Fletchling). Final team India the Furfrou Between her calm nature boosting her special defence, her Fur Coat ability boosting her defence, just naturally good speed, and her Rocky Helmet covering for her diminished attack, India is a fast tanky girl. She has the moves Return, Bite, Retaliate and U-turn and she hate to lose. Also, no, she doesn't go to the stylist, she like her fur the way it is. USA the Snorlax USA has Think Fat and loves to eat. Ok, jokes aside, the HP on this 'mon is staggering. His Carful nature boosts his naturally high special defence even higher, and he has Rest-Talk. His other moves are Return and a Metalcoat boosted Heavy Slam. Nov 2022: So... about this AI stuff
About 8 years ago, a Youtuber called CGP Grey posted a video entitled Humans Need Not Apply - YouTube and at the time I saw it as academic, a possibly so far in the future that wasn't worth the concern, but the future comes fast these days and last Friday it hit me square in the face. It was fricking scary. I wasn't sure what it meant or what to do about it. Putting my art uploading on hold seemed prudent. My Dad told me about a similar thing that happened on Facebook and how that was tackled, which prompted multiple posts telling the DA to keep its grubby mites off. Then what? They are a number of things to consider: 1) What are the real legalities at play here? I don't know and I don't have the stamina to find out by myself.
